New York-based artist Daniel Arsham explores the realms of visual arts.
Arsham's uchronic aesthetic revolves around his concept of fictional archaeology. Working in sculpture, architecture, and film, he creates and crystallizes interstices of his sculptures which he calls the future relics of the present.
Always iconic, most of the objects he turns to stone refer to the late 20th century or millennium era, when technological obsolescence accelerated unprecedentedly along with the digital dematerialization of our world. While the present, the future and the past poetically collide in his ghostly but playful visions between romance and pop art.

R2-D2™: FUTURE ARTIFACT is the inaugural edition release of the Daniel Arsham x Star Wars™ collaboration. This work is made of white cast resin and is based on a life-size R2-D2™ sculpture created by Daniel Arsham. Each edition is 30.48 cm in height and weighs 4.8 kg. R2-D2™: FUTURE ARTIFACT comes in Arsham studio designed housing with die-cut foam, sealing label, and a pair of custom art handling gloves. This is an edition of 500 pieces, and each R2-D2™: FUTURE ARTIFACT includes a holographic label verifying its edition number and authenticity.

Daniel Arsham makes installations and objects that conjure a kind of mythical contemporary archeology. In a practice that spans film, painting, sculpture, and installation—and employs elements of architecture and performance—the artist distorts recognizable forms (a cereal box or classical sculpture, for example) into corroded, calcified, or otherwise glitched-out artifacts. Sometimes he manipulates gallery spaces themselves to achieve his desired effect. Arsham studied at Cooper Union in New York and has exhibited in New York, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, London, and beyond. His work belongs in the collections of the Musée Guimet, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Pérez Art Museum Miami, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, among others. In addition to his fine art practice, Arsham has collaborated with a number of brands, including Adidas, Dior, and Porsche, and he has worked with the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team as creative director. In 2008, Arsham co-founded the art and architecture collaborative Snarkitecture alongside Alex Mustonen.
